December

This was a hard month. I really want to blame it all on the boys' school schedule. With them not getting home until nearly 5, and with a 7:15 p.m. bedtime, it didn't leave much time for family Christmas activities. We were realistic and cut out a lot of stuff we normally would have done, but that didn't mean I didn't feel guilty about cutting them or that the boys didn't continually ask why we weren't doing things.

We did do some things: temple lights trip, cookie decorating, sleeping under the tree, cutting snowflakes, blah blah blah. But it was hard.

This restored Rhett's faith in magic. All because of the physics-defying balanced pancake.

  1. It doesn't sound too blah, blah - nor look it. But sorry it felt that way!

We just couldn't do a coming-home at 5 schedule around here - way too hard! Just a half of a year left of that timing, right?! Then a new school with better hours?!

  2. I feel ya about the blah, blah, blah. We did some stuff, but it was kind of painful too. Jeff had a month of horrible commuting. If he rode his bike it was 35 miles round trip. When he took buses/metro it was about 3 hours each way. It left him zero energy and meant he was home after dinner. Thankfully his office is relocating to be just 5 miles from our house starting in January. It was a really tough month for us so you certainly aren't alone!

On to January and a new start!
