Flashback

On the way to Williamsburg, we drove within miles of my childhood home. Because I knew (1) it'd be a long time before we'd be down in that area again and (2) it'd be much easier on the way down compared to the way home when we'd be hoping to beat traffic, I dragged my family to the house.

To the surprise of the adults in the car, I was able to navigate straight to it. I was pretty impressed with me.

Then. (I couldn't find a pic of me, so you get this of Emily, her friend, and my mom. My mom, it should be noted, is about my age in this picture. Those legs! That car!)

Now. Except for different windows on the garage and a missing tree, I'm happy the house looks like I remembered. Maybe next time I'll be brave enough to ask to go inside.

  1. Oh! I LOVE reminiscing! This is awesome. What a great shot. And I'm so jealous. They bulldozed my childhood home (and playhouse) a few years ago to make more room for a road.

  2. So cool! I love going back and seeing the places I've lived when I get the opportunity. And the wood-paneled station wagon!! We used to have one too!

  3. I love it! So cool that you knew just how to get there. We had an awesome station wagon like that too.

  4. yes, great legs and car! :) so fun. i think it's funny how there are shutters around the door. isn't that kind of weird? or is that an eastern thing? looks like they just barely pulled out that pine tree, too. so fun that you drove right there (don't think i could). those were some good times at that house and street. in fact, i wish my kids had a street like that one in virginia. i mean, not the street of course, but the kids always out playing on it . . .
