One of my new years' resolutions for 2010 was to install four new family traditions. Last year's new tradition was a hit: remember Pumpkin Day? That'll be one we continue for years to come; I'm sure of it. But that was last year so it doesn't count towards my quantitative goal of four for 2010.
This year, however, we're starting with Pi Day on Sunday, during which we'll be eating this pie. (Pi Day? March 14? 3/14? 3.14159...? Get it? Embrace your inner nerd!)
In addition, I'd like to start compiling all of our videos that we take during the year into one giant family video for the year. This video will be watched as part of our New Year's Eve Celebration.
Two down; two to go. But now I'm stumped. What are some of your favorite traditions, either as part of a holiday or not? What traditions do you wish you had? Any other ideas for me?

gosh i don't know erin. besides just the holidays, i'm not sure what else we do? we do have cupcake day - june 4th or 5th i can't remember (it's on the calendar), but that's like your pi day.

What a good topic for discussion. OK, here are a couple of ours.
ReplyDeleteFind a good service project around the community that we can do as family during the holidays, either Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Learn something new that we can enjoy as a family. This could be anything (cooking/baking something new, learning an outdoor skill, etc.) as long as we can do it as a family.
um, let's not forget sept. 19th, talk like a pirate day!
ReplyDeletebut even more funny is you mentioned pi day. so get this, our bishop who was cunducting today, and so happens to be a math teacher by profession, gets up and says he's very pleased that with today being pi day (then he explained the date) that he was extra excited to read in the records of the new family that moved into our ward...the sign family! the sign family on pi day. okay so it was funny in person but i'm sure you can find the humor in it eh?
We missed Pi Day this year since we were out of town I didn't make Pi. We have a little song we sing on Pi Day, too :)
