Quick reader poll: What do you do for internet, phone, and cable TV at your house? Do you bundle them? How much cable TV do you get (just the ESPN, TLC sorts of stuff or do you imbibe in a little HBO too)? Do you have a DVR or a TiVo? And if you don't mind, would you tell me how much you pay for all three?

Comcast has wronged us (WRONGED us, I tell you!) and so we're trying to figure out what we're going to do.

(And by "wronged" us, I mean treat us the exact same way they treat all of their customers. Which is basically the same way that Verizon and all other large corporations treat their customers. Like poo.)

  1. our internet, phone, and cable are bundled together thru qwest. i don't know how much cable we get - we only turn on noggin once a week. no dvr, no tivo. i think we pay around 90 dollars.

  2. I hate all of those companies too! Sadly, we've gotten to the point where it is just too painful to live without cable (just the basic stuff- nothing fancy like HBO or tivo). I just wish they had a smaller cable package like they did in good old Provo. We have Verizon Fios "Triple Freedom Plan" and for all 3 we pay $109.

  3. We had Comcast and this summer Fios came to our neighborhood and we switched. They were running a special for all three we were to pay $99 a month. But they dn't tell you that you have to pay a rental fee per TV for the type of adapter. If you get the fancy adapter you can record TV on it and I think it ran $12 or $16 per month. For the basic adapter it's $3.99 a month, I think. In the end, we have on demand, 3 TVs connected with basic cable, no movie channels, unlimited long distance on the phone with taxes and all it runs about $135 a month.

Al, the kids and I don't turn it on so I'm not sure about the channels, but I know they're better than we had with Comcast...like National Geographic, multiple History channels and BYU-TV which sure makes it easy to watch conference and church specials.

  4. I just happened upon your blog... and thought I would throw my 2 cents in! We don't have cable - but we have an antenna and tivo.... so for $13 we can record what we want to on network tv and pbs, and then we order movies or tv shows from amazon to our tivo. We don't do netflix, but I hear that that is an excellent way to go with the tivo HD because you can get unlimited downloads to your tivo through them. Saves us a bunch of money and I feel like I have more control over what I am watching/paying for... just thought I would throw a completely different approach out there!
